6 Ridiculously Creepy Crimes (That Totally Are Unsolved)

unsolvedcrimes_1206251c

There are plenty of crimes in the world that go unsolved for one reason or another and that is fine but every so often there is a crime that takes place which is beyond creepy. To make things even creepier there is a wide variety of creepy crimes that will remain unsolved forever. The crimes of Jack the Ripper are one such collection of crimes that are both creepy and unsolved. The crimes of Jack the Ripper are only the very tip of the iceberg when it comes to unsolved crimes that make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

1 – Feet on the Beach

Over the years there have been many thousands of weird and strange items washed up on shorelines all over the world but not many of them are as creepy as the thirteen human feet which were washed up on the Salish Sea coast in British Columbia, Canada and Washington State, USA. To this very day only five of the thirteen feet have been connected to four different people leaving the rest as totally unsolved cases.

As you can imagine human remains getting washed up on beaches is nothing new but what makes these particular cases unique is the fact that no other body parts have ever been discovered. There have been plenty of theories surrounding the washed up feet, including bridge-jumpers (two of the feet were discovered to belong to suicide victims) and foul play. It has been explained by forensic scientists and coroners that as a human body decomposes in water extremities such as hands, feet and even the head can easily become detached from the rest of the corpse. While this is indeed true it does nothing to explain why only feet are ever washed up and discovered.

Anyone with any suggestions as to where the other body parts may be are welcome to comment below.

2 – The Mystery of the Somerton Man

Every now and again a human body is discovered washed up on a beach but in 1948 when police were called to a beach in Adelaide, Australia things were anything but normal. The body that had been discovered was that of a man who had in his pockets a rail ticket, a bus ticket, cigarettes, matches, chewing gum and a comb. The deceased man was carrying no identification and when his dental records were examined no match was found. The man was also found to have a secret pocket in his trousers and in that pocket police found a piece of scrap paper with the words “Taman Shud” (literally: ‘finished’ in Persian) printed on it. This I the reason that you may have heard of this case referred to as the “Taman Shud” case.

When authorities released full and detailed information about this case a man came forward with a very rare copy of a book named the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam , the book where the mysterious words had come from. To add even more strangeness to things the book that the man had in his possession was actually missing the words “Taman Shud” from the end of the book. Police left no stone unturned when examining the book and also found that the book contained a strange code which has not remains unsolved to this very day.

3 – The Toynbee Tiles

Toynbee-Tiles

Back in the latter part of the 1980’s the streets in cities across the United States and South America were witness to a strange occurrence. Brightly colored tiles began to appear bearing a message which referenced the Stanley Kubrick movie, 2001: A Space Odyssey. The titles continuously showed up, each with the same style and manufacturer and each making a reference to someone named Toynbee and a strange idea about resurrecting people on Jupiter.

If this whole thing does not seem strange consider this. Unless there is one individual out there with enough money and enough time to constantly plant these tiles for 30 years then they cannot be the work of just one man. If you are even the slightest bit curious about the mystery behind these tiles then you could do a lot worse than heading to Philadelphia where over 60 tiles are located. Not only that Philadelphia has four of these tiles all bunched together which posit some kind of strange media-Jewish-mafia-FBI conspiracy.

4 – The Lead Masks of Brazil

A boy named Jorge da Costa Alves was flying a kite on Vintem Hill in Rio de Janeiro during 1966 when he discovered two dead bodies, each dressed in suits and wearing lad masks the same as those used to protect against radiation poisoning.

The police were initially completely baffled by the masks and the two bodies but when they began to investigate and reconstruct what led the men to their deaths they discovered a variety of facts. Both of the men were seen buying bottled water on the previous afternoon which would perfectly explained the written notebook which was found with the bodies. In the notebook was written: “18:30 swallow capsules, after effect protect metals wait for the mask sign”.

Because of delays preserving the dead bodies an autopsy was unable to be performed but it was assumed that because of the words written in the notebook the capsules in question contained some form of poison although it was possible the two men did not realise this.

To this very day no one knows for definite what the capsules contained, what the men’s motives were or whether there was anyone else involved.

If you are ever on the lookout for the ideal movie villain then you could do a whole lot worse than looking at the Zodiac Killer. The Zodiac Killer has 5 confirmed murders to his name along with 2 grievous injuries and claims to have murdered at least 37 people. He operated in California during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s and he achieved notoriety for the various letters and cryptograms he sent to the media. In each of his letters he demanded that newspapers publish his letters otherwise he would commit even more murders.

To this very date authorities have only ever managed to decode one of the cyphers in which the Zodiac Killer stated that “I LIKE KILLING PEOPLE BECAUSE IT IS SO MUICH FUN… THE BEST PART OF IT IS THAE [sic] WHEN I DIE I WILL BE REBORN IN PARADICE AND THEI HAVE KILLED WILL BECOME MY SLAVES”.

There have been several suspects investigated over the years but the Zodiac Killer, who mostly wore a black executioner’s hood when attacking his victims, still remains unidentified and at large.

Kaspar Hauser was a teenager who in 1828 was found wandering around the streets of Nuremberg, Germany whilst carrying a letter which he claimed was written by his adoptive father. The letter explained how the young boy was taken as a young child and then taught how to write and read but never permitted to leave his house. The letter also went on to offer the teenage boy to the military so he could be trained as a cavalryman or hang as they saw fit.

In the time that followed Kaspar Hauser described to officials that for as long as he could remember he had lived in a two meter long cell, sleeping on a make shift straw bed and waking each morning to find bread and water which had been left for him. He also claimed that he very first human being had ever came into contact with taught him how to read and write but never revealed his face or his name.

The death of Kaspar Hauser was just as strange as his life. He died in 1833 when he returned to his home in Ansbach with a stab wound to the chest, Just before he died he claimed to have been lured to a nearby garden and stabbed by a complete stranger who had initially offered him a bag. When police later investigated the garden where Hauser claimed to have been stabbed they found a note written in mirrored writing which read “Hauser will be able to tell you precisely how I look and from where I am”.

Unfortunately Hauser died three days after he was stabbed and his true identity and the identity of his attacker remain a complete mystery nearly 200 years after.
